Discovery of Voltage Phase

Benjamin Franklin

Life Would Be Very Primitive Without Voltage Phase Power

Life would be hard without the amazing phenomenon of electricity.   Most of our time would be spent trying to achieve basic needs such as fire for heat and cooking, sewing our own clothes by hand, and making candles for light.  There would be no telephones, computers or big screen TVs with state-of-the art high definition picture capabilities.  We wouldn’t have today's conveniences because there would be no highly skilled manufacturers using modern technology to mass-produce consumer goods.  Thanks to the discovery of voltage phase technology, the basics of life are not a concern.  However, the preservation of our electrical resources and finding better ways of utilizing our energy will always remain an important issue.

When Did the Discovery of Electrical Voltage Phase Happen?

Benjamin Franklin contributed greatly to the discovery of voltage phase technology.Thank goodness for the perseverance of Benjamin Franklin.  In the eighteenth century, he experimented with simple electrical current by attaching a key to a kite and flying it in an electrical thunderstorm.  Electrical sparks actually hit the key tied to the dampened string at the end of his kite, which sent electrical voltage impulses down the string back to his hand.  Thus, electricity became reality.  What Mr. Franklin was actually feeling was the simple discovery of an electrical voltage.  By the late nineteenth century, there had been extended progress in electrical science.  People such as Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Alexander Graham Bell had developed the science of harnessing electrical current to operate their inventions, which resulted into a modern electrical revolution.  We all recognize these famous inventors, and thanks to them, our lives are blessed with every kind of electrical device that allows simple needs to be effortless.

Who Actually Discovered Voltage Phase Technology?

The discovery of voltage phase could be credited to an Italian scientist, Alessandro Volta.  Volta discovered that when moisture comes between two different types of metals, electricity is created.  He then invented the first electrical battery, which was made from thin sheets of copper and zinc separated by a moist pasteboard material.  The battery was called the voltaic pile.  This is where the word “volt” became a word for measuring electrical currents.  During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, there was amazing discoveries of voltage phase inventions.  The history of electricity is very interesting, and it certainly is one of the biggest wonders in the lifetime of our earth.  Electricity has made a tremendous impact on human survival, and everyday there are new and better technologies that improve the way we utilize electrical power.

With three-phase power operating today’s commercial and industrial equipment, the discovery of voltage phase power became much bigger that Alessandro Volta could have ever imagined.  If he were alive today, the world would look very futuristic though his eyes.  We have much to thank him for.
